This transfers especially well to television presentation, where the light actually is coming from behind the image.

Daily, Christine Cavanagh, Tim Curry, Whoopi Goldberg release year: 1998 film rating: Three Stars reviewed by: Abbie Bernstein Based on the popular Klasky/Csupo animated TV series, ‘Rugrats’ comes to the feature arena with plenty of built-in audience goodwill. The movie will live up to the expectations of the TV show’s fans and likely surpass those of new viewers. It’s one of the rare animated features aimed at very young children that can still be enjoyed utterly by adults.

DreamWorks' Antz beat Disney/Pixar's A Bug's Life into theaters, and made a lot of money -- but then so did A Bug's Life. The most surprising things about the movies turned out to be how different they were, and that both were very good, though A Bug's Life does come out ahead overall, on DVD as well. The DVD of Antz has a kind of unattractive blurred quality, as if the transfer was made from a flashed print of the film, rather than being transferred digitally. There are DTS-encoded discs available, which is fine, but the movie depends more ...

Wong release year: 1998 film rating: Three-and-a-Half Stars reviewed by: Abbie Bernstein "Thrilling" isn’t usually the first word that comes to mind while watching animated battle sequences, but there are a couple of moments in ‘Mulan’ that make your skin prickle. At its best, the feature-length animated Disney musical approaches the martial visual scope of, say, ‘Braveheart.’ At its worst, ‘Mulan’ slips into cartoon convention - but even then, it shows some inventiveness.
