X-Men: The Animated Series - Volumes 3 and 4 Buena Vista is back with "X-Men" animated episodes in Volumes 3 and 4.  I can't tell you all how thankful I am that you supported the initially released two volumes.  That helped to ensure the release of these next two volumes.  So, please continue to support these volumes so we can get the final remaining DVD release to complete the series. "X-Men" is noted as being one of the first animated cartoons to have a continuing storyline from episode to episode.  However, these began to drop a about season three.  Therefore these two volumes of "X-Men" contain more one-off episodes.  Nevertheless, these episodes are terrific.  It is hard to find fault in the entire series, as it is so entertaining.  The characters are emotionally deep for a cartoon.  The only real issue is that the episodes become more loosely based on ...

X-Men: The Animated Series - Volumes 1 and 2 Finally!  That is all I can say.  For me, this is one of the most anticipated cartoon releases to home video.  While I wish it were on the Blu-ray format, I will settle for standard DVDs.  In fact, I was in the process of collecting all these episodes off of broadcast and was getting annoyed by the scrolling messages at the bottom of the screen.  I was only three episodes away from collecting all 76 episodes when I got the news about this release. Matched for same time release as the Blu-ray release of the X-Men trilogy and the theatrical release of the Wolverine movie, the X-Men cartoon is a real treat.  As will most all cartoon sets, Buena Vista Home Entertainment has released them in volumes.  As of now they have released volumes one and two.  Each volume contains two ...

Little Mermaid II, The: Return to the Sea (Special Edition) Once again, Disney feels the need to re-release a "Little Mermaid" film.  In 2000, Disney released "The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea" as a direct-to-video sequel to 1989's "The Little Mermaid."  Disney is now re-releasing the sequel as a Special Edition.  Unfortunately, the movie doesn't fair so well. First and foremost, the songs are not good at all.  They don't live up to the standard set by the original film.  The melodies are not catchy and lack pizzazz.  This was virtually Danny Troob's only attempt as a music composer.  It is in fact his last.  However, Troob has a longstanding relationship with Disney in their music department.  He has worked as an arranger and orchestrator for such legendary films as, "Beauty and the Beast," "Aladdin," "The Lion King," among many others.  Sadly, his work as a composer is sorely ...

Little Mermaid, The: Ariel's Beginning In 1989, "The Little Mermaid" introduced a whole new generation of viewers to the wonderfully animated world of Disney.  Based on the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale, Alan Menken brought the story to life with songs that are still memorable decades later.  "Under the Sea" and "Part of Your World" are still as powerful today as they were 20 years ago.  This film is a must release on the Blu-ray format. Now, 19 years later, Disney has released an all-new Little Mermaid tale, Ariel's Beginning.  Hoping to rekindle the emotions felt when watching the original film, Disney takes us back to the beginning, in a time when music was not the center of life.  Unfortunately, the premise for this film blocks the truly great part of the Little Mermaid series.  Even "The Little Mermaid II" was moderately successful as a direct-to-video ...
