McGinley release year: 2001 film rating: Three Stars sound/picture: Four Stars reviewed by: Mel Odom "Highway” begins in a rather subdued manner, but one that makes the ears of any confirmed audio enthusiast prick up. A trained lover of all things audio will probably pick out the sound of a marble racing around a roulette wheel during the blank screen in Chapter 1 even before the movie opens up in Las Vegas. The marble makes a distinct noise that shifts through the center and main speakers, but a roulette marble dropping into the slot is a lot like a bad penny that keeps turning up.

After the first movie in 1984 turned into a hit, a sequel definitely was in the cards. During the time between the first movie and the sequel, there had been talk of producing a television series based on the movie. However, Murphy was booked up with other projects and the producers felt they couldn’t find anyone with the same creative verve and improv skills that Murphy had. So they waited three years to film the sequel. With Martin Brest out of the picture to direct the sequel, Simpson and Bruckheimer tapped director Tony Scott (SPY GAME, ENEMY OF THE ...

title: Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book <br> studio: Buena Vista Home Entertainment MPAA rating: PG starring: Jason Scott Lee, Sam Neill, Cary Elwes, Lena Headey, John Cleese, Jason Flemyng, Anirudh Agrawal, Ron Donachie, Stefan Kalipha, Sean Naegeli, Faran Tahir, Joanna Wolff, Liza Walker, Rachel Robertson, Natalie Morse release year: 1994 film rating: Four Stars reviewed by: Tara O'Shea Stephen Sommers likes fire, treasure, elaborate death traps in ancient tombs, feisty heroines, villains who wear white and good guys who wear black. If your only exposure to Sommers' particular brand of classic adventure film storytelling was "The Mummy" and its amped-up sequel, "The Mummy Returns," then you are missing out on one of the most entertaining films of Sommers’ career, Disney's live-action "Jungle Book."

It’s possible that the DTS soundtrack on this film isn’t the single loudest ever to hit home theatre – but no other contenders for the title are readily springing to mind. When you leave your volume dial at its customary setting, the upstairs neighbor comes to the door to politely but seriously tell you that her floor is shaking and her cat is losing its mind, and you have actually been wondering for the last half hour whether the sound will peel the paint off your walls or just cause them to shake into collapse altogether, you know you are listening to ...

While both the post-apocalypse and auto demolition subgenres were established before "Mad Max" arrived, the movie combines the two in ways that are still exciting and disturbing.
