Teen Wolf (1985) “Teen Wolf” was expected to be a big hit, given that it starred “back To The Future’s” Michael J. Fox.  Unfortunately, the film failed to spark any imagination or provide audiences with a real thrill ride.  Teen Wolf is a basically a comedy spoof on the horror werewolf genre.  However, it fails to really provide us with more than a paint by numbers story. The film is a bit of a mystery though.  To garner it more attention it was released after “Back To The Future,” though having been completed before the latter.  This worked extremely well for the film.  The film is still known as a success, yet no one seems to actually remember much of the film, let alone seen it at all. “Teen Wolf” has a cult following for those stuck in that 80s genre.  Take the film for ...

All Good Things (2009) “All Good Things” is a difficult one to place.  It had a tough start.  The film changed hands between directors and production companies, finally landing with Magnolia and limited theatrical release.  The sales at the box office didn’t even come close to covering the estimated budget of the film.  Let’s face it most of rarely here of limited theatrical releases, let alone go see them.  Hopefully the film will do better on home video. The film is not the best film of the year, but it ranks in the upper half.  This is labeled as a true-crime drama.  “All Good Things” tells us the story of New York’s most famous disappearance, Kathleen McCormack.  But the story is really that of Robert Durst, or in the case of the film David Marks.  In early 2000s, Durst was put on trial for the ...

Resident, The (2010) “The Resident” comes from an acclaimed horror production house, Hammer Films.  However, this film seems much less like a horror/thriller and more like an uninspired suspense, without the suspense.  It is difficult to discuss this film without giving away the one little secret that it has.  However, given that the secret is obvious it will be divulged here.  If you prefer not to know about the film, skip to the Blu-ray tech specs section. “The Resident” stars Hilary Swank and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, with a brief appearance by Christopher Lee.  Without more than two real principle characters in the film there is no suspense as to who means what to the plot.  Hilary Swank portrays Juliet, an ER doctor that recently divorced from her husband because he cheated on her.  Been there done that.  Okay, what’s next? Juliet finds an apartment that ...

Tangled 3D (2010) This is a look at the 3D version of “Tangled.”  For more information about the film please visit the 2D review here. After watching the film for a second time, I found that the music was better than I thought the first time around.  While it still wasn’t up to par with the classic Disney films where the music grabs you right from the start, it definitely was more enjoyable.  I’m not sure whether it was the second viewing or the added bonus of the 3D nature of the film that made the music stand out more.  Either way, it is welcomed. I am not going to summarize the film for you again.  Please visit the 2D review for more information on that topic.  The primary focus here is the 3D nature of the Blu-ray. “Tangled” is the Disney group’s second native 3D ...

Tangled (2010) With every Disney feature film release, the studio must live up to its own reputation.  “Tangled” is Disney 50th feature film and is a good outing indeed.  But, yes there is a but, the film lacks the ultimate flow that Disney is well-known for. “Tangled” is a typical Disney Fairy Tale princess film.  It has all the elements, including great characters and stunning visuals.  What it is lacking, is an unnoticeable story flow and truly capturing music. The film comes in at just over 100 minutes, which is a bit longer than the majority of Disney’s releases.  And this would account for some of the lag in the film.  There is a really nice opening and then the film just kind stalls for a bit.  The progression of the princess hidden in the tower to Flynn Rider and the deal between then ...
