Bolt (3D/2D) (2008) This a review of the 3D version of “Bolt.”  See the 3D Video section for updated information regarding this title’s 3D quality.  The remainder of the 3D release is identical to the previous “Bolt” Blu-ray release, including audio options and special features.  This package simply includes a Blu-ray 3D disc in addition."Bolt" is an adorable film, but I wouldn't go as far as to say that it is the "best Disney film since 'The Incredibles'" as the box and promos say.  "The Incredibles" was flawless, whereas "Bolt" has issues.  Still, that did not stop the film from grossing nearly $115 million at the US box office.  Home video sales are surely to soar.  Who wouldn't want to watch a cute, lovable puppy search for his way home?Bolt is a cute and cuddly puppy that gets adopted from a pet store ...

G-Force (3D/2D) (2009) This a review of the 3D version of “G-Force.”  See the 3D Video section for updated information regarding this title’s 3D quality.  The remainder of the 3D release is identical to the previous “G-Force” Blu-ray release, including audio options and special features.  This package simply includes a Blu-ray 3D disc in addition. There isn’t much to say about “G-Force.”  It is a relatively thin film that offers entertainment for kids.  The film takes the same spy kid genre story and hands it over to talking guinea pigs.  Despite low ratings by viewers, the film did take in about $140 million at the box office.  That isn’t too shabby.“G-Force” stars three guinea pigs, a fly and a mole as super spies that have been trained by a forgotten department of the Federal Bureau.  When their funding is about to be taken away, ...

Chicken Little (3D/2D) (2005) This a review of the 3D version of “Chicken Little.”  See the 3D Video section for updated information regarding this title’s 3D quality.  The remainder of the 3D release is identical to the previous “Chicken Little” Blu-ray release, including audio options and special features.  This package simply includes a Blu-ray 3D disc in addition. At one time or another during childhood, we heard the story of Chicken Little and the coming apocalypse. Using our imagination and the illustrations from the children's book, we could all picture the scenario in our minds. Now the wonderful imagineers at Disney Pictures have brought Chicken Little and the town of Oakey Oaks to the big screen.Just as in the fable, Chicken Little shouted to the world, “the sky is falling, the sky is falling,” causing complete mayhem throughout the town of Oakey Oaks. This sequence ...

Crazy, Stupid, Love. (2011) I just can’t make up my mind about “Crazy, Stupid, Love.”  (Sorry but I don’t know what the correct punctuation is for the title.  The cover art has it written three different way, with a period, without a period, with commas, without commas.  I give up.)The film was not widely recognized during its theatrical debut, but it gathered a little bit a following along the way.  Where I find myself torn is whether or I feel like I have seen this film before, and whether or not I care for Steve Carell’s humor.Okay, so, I felt like more a majority of the film I was watching a typical romantic comedy.  The beats were predictable, as were the characters.  There are a lot of contrived and lifeless moments.  On the other hand, there are some unique and precious humorous moments.  Ryan ...

Water For Elephants (2011) “Water For Elephants” is a film based on the best selling novel of the same title.  About the same time as hearing about the book, I heard about the movie release in just a few short weeks.  The two were seemingly developed in tandem.  But doesn’t seem the case with Hollywood?  Movies are almost completed before real events unfold.  It’s spooky. The film was only moderately successful at the box office.  It falls into the category of “film not as good as the book,” something I would place all the Harry Potter films in, but I digress.  The film is quite decent in the end, but the journey it takes along the way is hit or miss. The opening of the film is quick, interesting and to the point.  Then there is a huge lull in the middle of the film just ...
