“Wrath Of The Titans” is the sequel to 2010’s bust “Clash Of The Titans.”  I am going to admit right off the bat that I actually enjoyed the first film more than the second.  Sure, the first film was plagued by every filmmaking nuance in the book, but the sequel just doesn’t fill itself out enough for me to thoroughly enjoy it. My biggest issue with the sequel, more so than the original, is the liberties taken with Greek mythology.  Now, this is true of every film about Greek mythology so I can’t throw all the blame on this film.  However, it is a pet peeve of mine.  While “Wrath Of The Titans” is not horrible there still is the fact that Andromeda was Perseus’ wife, not IO.  Gods don’t die from being hit with each other’s powers, unlike here where ...

  I know there is a big history to the Jon Carter saga.  However, I did not follow the writings and therefore will not begin to speculate on the consistencies or lack thereof between the two.  For it is, John Carter is a decent film.  Somehow I do not understand the reasons behind the uproar that this film caused during its theatrical release. “John Carter” is not a perfect film by any means.  However, it certainly is not as horrible to require a studio head to resign over its theatrical failure.  The film is actually a fun ride.  Sure the beginning starts a bit slow but it pickups as the film runs on.  I know that is not a recipe for success but it doesn’t doom it to the pits.   The industry felt as thought it were time for another three musketeers revival.  Forgetting about the distant past, Disney created a film in the 90s with Kiefer Sutherland, Oliver Platt, Charlie Sheen, et. al.  In 2000, our resident bad-guy doctor on “Grey’s Anatomy,” Justin Chambers in addition to Mena Suvari starred in Universal’s adaptation “The Musketeers.”  Summit has now gotten in on the action and created an offspring of what would happen if the previous two films were to spawn. “The Three Musketeers” is predictable from beginning to end.  In fact, I was floored by the amount of dialogue in the opening that was carbon copy that of the Disney version.  I simply couldn’t believe.  You could literally take the pages of the Disney version and apply the new actors and come up with the first act of this new musketeers’ ...

  It is becoming more and more rare that I end up agreeing with the mass public about the status of a recent film.  Perhaps I am becoming obsolete in terms of what is deemed a good movie nowadays.   It is hard to believe that it has been 20 years already since the release of the “The Rocketeer.”  This film was the action-hero blockbuster to beat before the days of CGI-oriented robots and super-powered figures hit the screen summer after summer. The film isn’t the best in terms of pacing, but it has a neat story that uniquely fictionalizes the history of Howard Hughes and Nazism while at the same time bringing to light some of the actual events of the era. Bill Campbell stars as Cliff, a test/show pilot who comes across a new rocket device that can propel him into the air without the need for wings or strings.  The lovely Jennifer Connelly is the leading lady, gracing the screen with her beauty.
