One of the biggest downsides to using the Netflix streaming service is that you're generally not going to get access to movies anywhere close to their Blu-ray release date. A series of deals with companies like Nu Image/Millennium Films though, are moving the window forward.
The iPhone and Netflix Instant Streaming are two pieces of tech that came into popularity at nearly the same time, but for one reason or another they just haven't gotten together – until now. As of today, the Netflix app is finally available for your iPhone or iPod Touch.
This is the sort of thing we've been hearing about a few years. Movie studios need to adapt to the way consumers want to view their content, and they need to do it in a way that won't mess with the theaters that bring in so much of the money for movies.
