Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen – Now Available on USB
Some companies really get digital distribution.  Netflix for example.  They know that some consumers are willing to sacrifice quality of picture and sound for an inexpensive and convenient way to view content.  Kingston on the other hand, seems to be missing something. Combining the inconvenience of physical media with the low quality video of streaming media, Kingston and Paramount have teamed up to deliver Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen on a USB drive.

Verizon Fios Gets Facebook and Twitter Access
Verizon FiOS TV has announced two new additions to their push for interactive TV experiences: Internet Video and the Widget Bazaar.  These services are designed to expand consumers’ ability to access social applications on the Internet through their HDTV.  Those with a FiOS TV can use services such as Facebook, Twitter and Dailymotion to connect with friends while they are watching their programming.

CBS Ramping Up On-Demand Efforts
CBS has penned a deal to begin a trial run of offering their programming via Comcast’s On Demand Online service.  CBS is the first broadcast TV provider to join up with the pay-TV service from Comcast, and has remained one of the notable few broadcasters to avoid joining forces with the free-TV service, Hulu.

OTA HD Usage May See a Spike
The DTV transition may have unintended effects on consumer preference for antenna broadcasting.  In a report by Harris Corporation, 55 percent of respondents were considering canceling their cable or satellite service altogether in favor of over-the-air, free, HD broadcasting through antennas.

Amazon VOD Offering HD Content
Amazon has officially announced “Instant HD” videos on its online streaming service.  Users can now watch a selection of over 500 HD movies and TV shows available on Amazon.com. HD movies are selling for $3.99 to $4.99, while an episode of an HD TV shows is selling for $2.99.
