M•Design, a division of Monster LLC has announced the addition of the M•Bass 1000 High Performance Subwoofer to the Centra collection of home theater products. The dual-purpose piece is designed to function as an end table as well as a powerful subwoofer. The M•Bass 1000 complements the Centra line of home theater component centers, including the soon-to-be-released Centra StreamLine Tower Speakers.

Loudspeaker specialist Focal has developed a new concept to allow iPod and hard drive juke box users, plus WiFi and PC/server music fans, a way to convert their products into the heart of a 2.1 hi-fi system – the iCub integrated sub woofer.

Carver Digital has introduced the compact and powered SW-500DC and SW-350DC High-Pressure Subwoofers at the International Consumer Electronics Show last week, which are both high-pressure, high-output, front-firing subwoofers. The SW-500DC features a 12-inch woofer, while the SW-350DC features a 10-inch woofer. Both have built-in tracking downconverter amplifiers.

Artcoustic has introduced the Diablo Tech+1 Subwoofer – the smallest and only powered floor standing subwoofer in its product line. Comparable in size and dimension to an ordinary shoe box, the Diablo Tech +1 keeps with the company’s “décor- first” design philosophy.

Energy is introducing the act sub – an 80 Watt RMS, 300 Watt Continuous powered subwoofer that compliments the S8.3, S10.3 and S12.3 subwoofers. The act sub features technological breakthroughs found in its larger siblings while providing a compact alternative.
