Canton
has recently introduced eight new loudspeakers in its Ergo line,
including a new powered subwoofer and seven full-range models featuring
new crossover. New models include a trio of three-way floorstanders,
two bookshelf speakers, two 2-1/2-way center channel speakers, and a
200-Watt powered subwoofer, and all are available in silver lacquer,
black, beech, and cherry wood veneer finishes. The new Ergo full-range
models incorporate improved crossover networks that are based on
technology developed for the company's signature Karat Reference 2 DC
loudspeaker system. These changes include the use of ICW polypropylene
capacitors, which have led to a marked reduction in dielectric
absorption or “memory” effects giving the models improved transient
response and detail. The new crossover design also has a significant
reduction in microphonics designed to improve mid-range and
high-frequency reproduction. The new Ergo center channel speakers are
2-1/2-way designs optimized for horizontal mounting. The speakers use a
centrally-mounted tweeter flanked by a pair of identical ...

Snell
Acoustics has just introduced the XA 2500 LCR Speaker. A cross between
the Reference XA 2900 and the XA 1900thx, the new XA 2500 sits squarely
in the middle of Snell’s high-end, in-cabinet speaker line and
incorporates exclusive Snell eXpanding Array technology. Using the XA
2900’s driver set and crossover the XA 2500 provides the output,
dynamics and detail of its Reference brother at less than half the
price.
The eXpanding Array consists of two 8-inch woofers
that flank the two 4.5-inch midrange drivers arranged over and under a
1-inch pure titanium dome tweeter. Through the use of sophisticated
computer modeling, Snell’s eXpanding Array exhibits a very broad, even
vertical dispersion. The design formula calculates driver size,
spacing, crossover frequency and slope to develop an array whose length
varies with frequency. Specifically, as the applied frequency decreases
[lowers in pitch], the effective length expands to give constant
directivity making the XA 2500 flat regardless of ...

PSB
Speakers are highlighting their newest loudspeaker series with a total
of seven new models. The Series consists of seven models, the T8 and T6
Towers, M2 Monitor, C4 and C2 Center Channels, S2 Bipolar Surround and
SubSonic 10 Powered Subwoofer.
PSB speakers are made
using design tools such as Finite Element Analysis (FEA), laser
vibrometry and computer optimization. More important is that both the
drivers, crossovers and the final products were designed and developed
by founder Paul Barton through objective measurements and critical
listening tests at the Canada's National Research Council.

Athena
Technologies has just announced the release of a new 6 piece speaker
system called the MICRA 6. This system was designed from the ground up
to accomplish the goal of providing quality sound and value in a small,
sleek, home theater flat screen solution.
The MICRA
consist of four MS satellite speakers that feature a 3.5 inch long
throw woofer platform, and a 1/2 inch tweeter. Flexible mounting
hardware is included that allows the speaker to be wall or ceiling
mounded. The speakers’ enclosure is formed from an injection molded
resin that provides a light yet solid structure. All drivers are
magnetically shielded. The MC is the matching center channel included
in the system. It features a 1/2 inch tweeter and dual 3.5 inch woofers
for added power handling and dynamic abilities. It is timbre matched to
the MS satellites and comes with mounting hardware that also allows for
numerous mounting options.

Esquire
Magazine and The Trump Organization will unveil their one-of-a-kind,
modern living space – The Esquire Apartment – at The Trump World Tower
at 845 United Nations Plaza in New York City. Mirage Incognita custom
series speakers as well as an array of designs featuring Omnipolar
technology will be the speakers of choice. Mirage designs were chosen
as the speaker supplier adorning each room of the 5,425 square foot,
four bedroom, five-and-a-half bathroom penthouse on the 89 floor of The
Trump World Tower.
“The Esquire Apartment isn’t your
typical showhouse,” said Kevin C. O’Malley, publisher of Esquire
Magazine. “We’re incorporating so many unique ideas to make this an
interactive experience. Instead of simply looking at the space and
appreciating the unique elements within it, our Apartment will be
tactile – from the seating areas to the home electronics equipment.
This is first and foremost a modern living space.”
