After a consolidation of the Mark Levinson and Revel brands with Lexicon to form Harman Specialty Group, Mark Levinson is about to start shipping a new reference preamp called the No. 320S Preamplifier. After moving Mark Levinson’s operations from Connecticut to Massachusetts, this is the first new product from Mark Levinson in approximately a year. New power amps made at HSG’s Massachusetts factory are slated to be available next month. Levinson’s flagship No. 40, two chassis AV preamp, is rumored to be shipping by the end of 2004.

Linn's new EXOTIK pre-amp is a multi-channel audio pre-amplifier product that offers access to and control of the new generation of multi-channel sound formats . The product is derived from technology developed for Linn’s KLIMAX Kontrol pre-amplifier. The EXOTIK offers audio performance from both two and multi-channel source material such as SACD or DVD-Audio. In addition, an RS232 link enables automatic pre-selection of the most appropriate decoding algorithm or analog channels determined by the disc type being played when used with a Linn UNIDISK player.

Anthem has just unveiled the D1 preamplifier/processor/ tuner, a new offering from the company’s all-new high-end series, Anthem Statement. The D1 is designed and built in North America on the same platform and incorporating the same operating system as Anthem’s award-winning AVM 20. The similarities end here, however. What ultimately separates the two is sonic performance. According to Anthem, the D1 is more revealing and displays a greater degree of musical.
