CEDIA is still a few weeks away and companies are already starting to announce their offerings for the big show. Professional Home Cinema (PHC) has plenty to announce, with the unveiling of a whole new line of programmable modular amplifiers.
Onkyo's PA-MC5500 is a nine channel THX Ultra2 Plus certified amplifier that packs plenty of power. Inside the monolithic chassis you'll find an analog power amplifier rated to 150 watts per channel at 8 ohms and up to 400 watts into 3 ohms.
The latest amp from NAD – the C 356BEE – was designed to offer both power and efficiency in one package. It uses the NAD PowerDrive circuit as you might expect, which helps the 356BEE to deliver more accurate sound. Also included is NAD's exclusive Soft Clipping circuit, which eliminates clipping distortion by reshaping the sound.
Getting the kind of audio quality you want from a computer can be trying, especially if you're dealing with a laptop that lacks the ability to add a sound card. The latest products from NuForce aim to remedy that, and at a price of entry that most consumers can afford.
