What Panasonic's Green Strategy Means to HDTVs
Panasonic recently announced that they'll be investing one billion dollars into development of green technologies for the home in order to appeal to an ever increasingly environmentally conscious consumer base. Pansonic’s president says that the new direction is due to a lack in company growth, especially when compared to the rise of Samsung.

California Postpones Energy Standards Vote on Plasmas
The much anticipated decision by the California Energy Commission has been delayed two weeks until November 18th. Consumers, retailers and manufacturers will all have to wait a full fortnight for the vote on a highly controversial proposal from the California Energy Commission.  This much maligned effort would put the kibosh on larger LCD and plasma displays.

Plasma Display Coalition Demands End to Misinformation
From early on in the HDTV format wars, plasma has gotten a bad rap that just won’t go away.  Early problems with burn in have resulted in wide spread misconceptions about the current state of plasma displays, and certainly resulted in a loss of sales for plasma television manufacturers.  Currently, a trend towards energy conservation in California has pegged plasma televisions as wasteful and the result may be a ban on sales of plasma televisions in the state.  The Plasma Display Coalition is looking to change that.

Runco Announces New Plasmas
Runco announced recently that it will be expanding its plasma displays.  This new series will include 5 CinemaWall and PlasmaWall uses Optical Path Alignment technology and DHD3 video processing.  All of the new displays are engineered to display deepest blacks, high brightness and contrast ratio.

Plasma HDTV Prices Falling
Compared to LCD HDTVs, plasma HDTVs are becoming cheaper by the minute.  A report from the Wall Street Journal claims that a 50-inch plasma is, on average, $300 less expensive than the same size LCD.  Part of this price drop is improved manufacturing technology for plasma screens, but perhaps an even larger contributor is competition and falling demand for plasmas.
