We've come a long way when it comes to streaming video, but we're not where we need to be yet. Still, a study by Rovi Corp shows that 25 percent of Americans surveyed described the video streaming quality on their smartphone or tablet as excellent.  Outside of the US, it was under 20 percent.

After the longest console cycle in company history, Sony has announced the PlayStation 4. The system offers plenty of potential when it comes to games and will certainly blow away the graphics of its predecessors, but that's not what tops Sony's list.  Sony spent a great deal of time talking about the social possibilities of the new system, and prime among these features is a dedicated share button, which will let your friends watch streaming video of your gameplay.

Nielsen ratings are what help determine whether your favorite show gets another five seasons or gets unceremoniously cancelled before all of the first season airs. Nielsen was never perfect, but with the recent rise of internet based viewing, it's become broken.  The company is preparing to remedy that though, and will soon be including households that have no television service, opting instead of internet only.

We've been hearing about the upcoming OLED displays for years now, and it almost seemed like the technology was going to be killed off before it even started. Thankfully, a few companies are pushing forward with OLED sets, including LG, which has just invested $655 million into the tech.
