Madrigal Imaging Inks Deal With JVC. Madrigal Imaging, the video line of high end AV's largest company, Madrigal, just inked a deal with JVC to produce a Madrigal Imaging version of JVC's DILA video projector. DILA has received quite a bit of hype lately as it competes with DLP to replace traditional CRT projectors in the marketplace. The major advantage of the Madrigal Imaging DILA will be its 1365 x 1025 pixel resolution versus DLP's maximum resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels. The projected price of the new Madrigal Imaging MPD1 is $26,000.

DEADLOCK (Leo Films), released last year, is a horror/comedy about a couple who purchase a house inhabited by kobolds, evil spirits that cause people to murder each other. Michelle Beauchamp and John Griffin star; Stuart Chapin directed. Fans of sword combat on stage and screen will note Bob ("Ring of Steel") Chapin, Anthony ("Highlander") DeLongis and Roberta Brown in the cast. SONICblue Announces Plan to Acquire ReplayTV. SONICblue(TM) Incorporated, a leader in the converging Internet, digital media and consumer device markets, just announced it has signed a letter of intent to acquire ReplayTV, Inc., the industry-leading licensor of technology for networked entertainment products, serving businesses that include consumer electronics manufacturers, personal computer manufacturers, set-top box manufacturers and cable, satellite and terrestrial operators.

This week Japanese game machine maker Sega announced that they will no longer be producing their Dreamcast game console and will start creating game software titles for Sony and Nintendo's game systems. Sega plans to supply game content for popular Palm handheld devices and will license Dreamcast technology to U.K.-based Pace Micro's set-top boxes. Sega will also create new opportunities for its online gaming network SegaNet.

As predicted by AudioRevoltion.com in our July 26th news story, Napster will re-launch as a paid subscription service this summer with a portion of the revenue going to the artists and songwriters whose copywritten material is traded across their servers. This news comes from German media conglomerate Bertelsmann AG’s chief executive officer Thomas Middelhoff.
