This time the major networks are pissed. ABC, NBC and CBS filed suit in California today against SonicBlue, the new parent company of ReplayTV, according to Yahoo.com and Reuters. This main issue is the new ReplayTV 4000 PVR has taken skipping commercials to the next level. In the past, Replay and TiVo units could fast forward though commercials much like you could if you had recorded it on your VCR. With the ReplayTV 4000, you can now accurately skip commercials. The suit also sites Replay’s ability to record "perfect digital copies" of TV shows and then distribute them over the internet.

General Motors Spins Off DirecTV to Echostar for $5.5 Billion General Motors Corp. and its subsidiary Hughes Electronics (NYSE: GM, GMH) together with EchoStar Communications Corporation (NASDAQ: DISH), today announced the signing of definitive agreements that provide for the spin-off of Hughes from GM and the merger of Hughes with EchoStar.

Beating the mark set a mere two weeks ago by The Mummy Returns, Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace sold more copies on DVD than any other DVD ever. Star Wars junkies gobbled up 2.2 million copies of The Phantom Menace in its first week on store shelves. Despite lack luster reviews by the Star Wars loyalists, The Phantom Menace sold exceddinly well which is a very promsising sign for the pending release of the three Origianal Star Wars films when they are finally availible on DVD.

Sony’s new DVD Style3 player (also known as the DVD Style Cube) features a slim shape, a slot loading disc mechanism and can be operated vertically, horizontally or mounted on a wall. This allows for maximum space savings and flexibility in small dorm rooms, bedrooms and in offices. This new DVD player features the Precision Drive2 System, a new tilt mechanism providing fast and accurate tracking and playback of DVDs. This system allows viewers to watch their favorite DVDs despite imperfections or physical flaws on some discs.
