Harcore hip hop metal band biohazard is in the studio with multi-platinum producer JIVEJones, the man responsible for writing and producing Mandy Moore’s hit song "Candy." This move doesn’t mean that Biohazard is going soft. Cypress Hill is collaborating with the band for their new album that is scheduled to hit store shelves this summer.

Beginning on SuperBowl Sunday at WRAL-TV (the CBS affiliate in Raleigh, North Carolina) Panasonic will begin sponsoring HDTV news broadcasts that are edited and played back on Panasonic DVCPRO HD high definition equipment. The broadcasts will be supported by a series of Panasonic-sponsored promotional announcements created to bring attention to the broadcasts and the HDTV format.

DTS has announced that they will be releasing their first batch of DVD-Audio titles under their own DTS Entertainment record label in the coming months. These high resolution 5.1 releases will include a series of 96/24 classical titles from ILIAD, the Patrick Leonard produced Toy Matinee, Steve Stevens’ Flamenco A Go-Go, the Fabulous Thunderbirds as well as 5.1 audio mixes from new artists such as Larissa Stow, Pacific Coast Highway and The Gluey Brothers. Later in 2001, DTS Entertainment will be releasing several "stereo only" DVD-Audio titles including Sting’s Brand New Day and Cheryl Crow’s Globe Sessions. Beginning January 15, 2001, all of the distribution for DTS Entertainment’s 5.1 music CDs and DVD-Audio releases will be handled by Valley Entertainment. Taking home the prize for favorite female artist, favorite country artist, and best Country artist, singer Faith Hill was the big winner of the evening at the 2001 American Music Awards. Hill’s husband Tim McGraw picked up the award for favorite make country artist. Produced by Dick Clark and held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, the award show was co-hosted by Britanny Spears and hip-hop veteran LL Cool J. Unlike the Grammy’s which are voted on by RIAA members, the American Music Awards are chosen by 20,000 randomly selected record buyers via secret ballots.
