Thomson Multimedia (RCA) and EchoStar Communications Corporation announced that they have signed an agreement for Thomson to manufacture DISH Network compatible satellite TV receivers. Thomson anticipates commencing production by mid-year 2002.

In one of the fastest technology rollouts ever at General Motors, XM Satellite Radio will be offered on 23 models this fall -- from the Chevy Cavalier to the Cadillac Escalade EXT. In November 2001, GM became the first auto manufacturer in the world to offer XM as a factory-installed option on 2002 Cadillac DeVilles and Sevilles. Beginning this fall, the start of the '03 model year, the XM option will be available on the following models:

In a significant development for the future of battlefield coverage for television, Broadcast News Networks (BNN) and HDNet have announced the broadcast of the first ever High Definition television reports from a war zone. World-renowned war reporter Peter Arnett, who BNN had previously announced would be heading to the region to report for the company’s worldwide client base, will also lead BNN’s groundbreaking HDTV coverage from Afghanistan, Pakistan and other key regional news centers with reports that will be broadcast on the HDNet channel on DIRECTV.

Graham Nash, one third of the formidable trio of CSN (Crosby Stills and Nash) and sometimes quartet including Neil Young, announced at CES 2002 that his latest album will be released in DVD-Audio DTS 5.1 surround. This release will happen at the same time as the two-channel stereo compact disc introduction. An avid supporter of DVD-Audio’s multi-channel reproduction, Graham stated that this project has re-energized him and has him more excited about the studio than he has been in more than 20 years. "Recordings are most often done from the performers perspective – This recording is presented from the prospective of the audience."

Through February 11, 2002 Limp Bizkit will be searching for a replacement guitarist at various Guitar Center stores across the USA. Current Limp Bizkit guitarist and founding member Wes Borland is moving on to other projects such as his new band Big Dumb Face. Limp Bizkit will be scouring the nation for a guitarist to fill Borland’s shoes, and will giving everyone interested in auditioning a shot. On their website www.limpbizkit.com, frontman Fred Durst released a statement about the hunt for the new Limp Bizkit axeman.
