Comcast SportsNet announces that it will produce and air approximately 200 games in high-definition beginning January 2003 between its two networks in Philadelphia and Baltimore/Washington, D.C.
Comcast SportsNet will produce such games from a network-owned, state-of-the-art mobile production unit that will service both networks. For the Philadelphia network, this includes select home games featuring the Philadelphia Phillies (MLB), Flyers (NHL) and 76ers (NBA). In Baltimore/Washington, DC, this will include select home games for the Baltimore Orioles (MLB), Washington Capitals (NHL) and Washington Wizards (NBA).
As an added feature for home viewers, high definition television can be broadcast simultaneously with a traditional broadcast signal, therefore not impacting the image of those viewers without a high-definition television set.
