MartinLogan announces the introduction of the Descent, a reference powered subwoofer system. The Descent delivers low frequency information using advanced servo monitoring and control, BalancedForce bass configuration, low-mass aluminum element drivers, a low distortion amp and highly evolved enclosure technology. "MartinLogan set out to engineer the Descent subwoofer by developing standards beyond traditional subwoofer design. Designing to the higher standards of superior electrostatic transducers became the MartinLogan challenge. New low levels of distortion and accurate levels of system integration accuracy result in the highest levels of performance available today," said Gayle Sanders, president and founder of MartinLogan.

DTS announced today that it has licensed its real-time surround sound technology, DTS Interactive, to Electronic Arts for the PlayStation2 versions of their games. NHL 2002, is set to be released in late September 2001 and is the world's first game to include real-time interactive surround sound during game-play. DTS has also officially launched its Software Developers Kit (SDK) for DTS Interactive, allowing game developers to quickly encode surround sound for other action-packed Playstation 2 games.

HDNet, the world's only all-high definition national television network, recently debuted on DirecTV channel 199 with a broadcast of the Minnesota Twins VS Texas Rangers, the first of 15 Major League Baseball games to be aired throughout the month. Founded by Dallas Maverick’s owner Mark Cuban and Philip Garvin, HDNet will expand in October from a limited schedule to a 16 hour-per-day, seven day-per-week schedule of sports and entertainment programming, all broadcast in high definition.
