Qsonix has launched a digital music management system capable of storing up to 7,500 CDs that it claims is the first of its kind to offer a drag & drop user interface. Users can manage entire music collections through a touchscreen display panel, dragging and dropping individual tracks or complete albums to manage their music playlists, eliminating the use of menus or extra steps found on other systems. The Q100 DME ($5,495 MSRP) comes with either 160GBs or 400GBs of hard disk storage and a 15-inch TFT LCD touchscreen controller that can be integrated with leading home automation solutions.

It has been one year since Hewlett Packard and Apple partnered up allowing HP to resell their own version of the iPod but now both companies have confirmed the end of the agreement. HP’s iPod was identical to the Apple iPod, but branded as a HP product. Claiming the iPod does not fit with the company’s current digital entertainment strategy, HP says they will stop selling the player by late September. The company says they will continue to offer support for current HP iPod owners.

Samsung has partnered up with XM Satellite Radio to offer two portable MP3 players with satellite radio capabilities, using flash memory and XM’s own Connect-and-Play technology. Players will be available in two different storage capacities by the end of the year and will come with an XM Radio home accessory kit.

Sonos has released a software feature update that gives users more control over the company’s Digital Music System. This update adds a Desktop Controller for Macs, compatible with OSX 10.3 and 10.4. It also supports the latest iTunes 4.9 release so that users can access their libraries, playlists and podcasts from their Sonos system. Users also get more content with the added support for Windows Media Audio Internet radio stations. The system already comes pre-loaded with over one hundred stations but users can still add more MP3 or WMA stations from their Desktop Controller.
