John Lee Hooker, legendary bluesman and influence to rock stars ranging from Van Morrison to Bonnie Raitt to Carlos Santana, died last night at his home near San Francisco. Hooker's most recognizable song "Boom Boom" has been covered by nearly every blues band on the planet and used in numerous television commercials. His gravely voice and hard hitting, soulful style will be missed by millions.

Copies of the original score of Yesterday are being auctioned over the Internet to raise funds for British colony Montserrat where a volcano erupted in 1997 according to Beatles producer Sir George Martin. Beatles fans have already been bidding more than £2,000 ($2800) online for a chance to own one of 500 framed copies signed by Martin, who wrote the string arrangement, and Sir Paul McCartney, who penned the song. As an added bonus, the first in the series will feature a small plaque and message from McCartney, and will be hand-delivered by Sir George Martin to the winning bidder.

Christies auctioned off a number of pop super-star Elton John's cars this week rasing nearly $3,000,000. The cars sold included Ferrari Testarossas from the mid 1980's, Aston Martins, a Rolls Royce limo and a very rare 1993 Jaguar XJ220.

Jane's Addiction founding guitarist and former Red Hot Chili Peppers member Dave Navarro recently announced that he will launch his personal website, at the end of May 2001. The launch precedes the release of his debut Capitol Records solo album, Trust No One, in stores June 19th, and his ReganBooks publishing debut with Neil Strauss, Don't Try This at Home, out July 2nd.
