Not known for being the hippest music award show, the past two Grammy Awards have seemed more like a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame introduction ceremony than a celebration of the best new music of the year. Last year, Santana paired up with a handful of rising pop stars such as Dave Matthews, Lauryn Hill and matchbox 20 and was honored with eight Grammy awards for his album Supernatural and his smash hit song "Smooth."

The 42nd annual Grammy nominations were recently announced and on February 21st Grammy Awards will be presented to the best performers, producers and songwriters in 100 different categories. Nominees include industry veterans such as Madonna, Joni Mitchell, Don Henley and Sting as well as newcomers Christina Aguilera, Macy Gray, The Corrs and Sisqo. Only recordings released during the period between October 1, 1999 through September 30, 2000 were eligible for nomination.

Taking home the prize for favorite female artist, favorite country artist, and best Country artist, singer Faith Hill was the big winner of the evening at the 2001 American Music Awards. Hill’s husband Tim McGraw picked up the award for favorite make country artist. Produced by Dick Clark and held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, the award show was co-hosted by Britanny Spears and hip-hop veteran LL Cool J. Unlike the Grammy’s which are voted on by RIAA members, the American Music Awards are chosen by 20,000 randomly selected record buyers via secret ballots. King Crimson, the most progressive band of the Prog-Rock genre is heading out on tour to support their ConstruKction Of Light CD. Crimson is lead by way-out-there guitarist Robert Fripp and who's out-of-the-box chops are like no other. Crimson has been called thinking man's rock which packs high intensity groves with Martian melodies. With 31 years under their belt, King Crimson puts on quite a show.
