Sting, Elton John, James Taylor and Ravi Shankar have been announced as performers at the annual Rainforest Foundation Benefit Concert on April 13, 2002. The event will be held at New York’s Carnegie Hall and is produced by Rainforest Foundation and wife of Sting, Trudie Styler. Styler, Sting, and Chief Raoni of the Menkragnoti Kayapo people of the Amazon rainforest established the Rainforest Foundation in 1989.

Armed with a 2002 Grammy nomination (Best Metal Performance for "Chop Suey!") American Recordings artist System of a Down will headline a twelve city North American tour beginning on Valentine's Day in Las Vegas, NV. In mid-December, System of a Down shot the promo video for their current single "Toxicity" with band bassist Shavo Odadjian making his directorial debut. Odadjian had assisted video director Marcos Siega on the "Chop Suey!" video, and his bandmates encouraged him to try it on his own with "Toxicity."

Reggae legend, Bob Marley has just received his first ever Grammy nomination by the National Recording Academy of Arts and Science (NARAS.) for being the subject of the documentary Rebel Music: The Bob Marley Story in the category of "Best Long Form Music Video". Incredibly, this is the first time a Bob Marley project has ever been nominated for a Grammy. Bob Marley, musician, poet and prophet, was the first Jamaican artist and the first 3rd world superstar to achieve international stardom and introduced Reggae music to the world. Marley was a symbol of human rights that, through his music, decried the injustices of all people and fought for social equality with zealous determination. Concert Ticket sales were down in 2001 according to Pollstar Magazine but the prices were up $2 to $43 on average. That is before fees and surcharges which are also seemingly on the rise. September 11th was as much of a factor on concert ticket sales in 2001 because many of the big tours were already over before the attacks. How fears of terrorism will impact concert sales for the summer tours in 2002 is hard to predict. Some say they will be lower because of fear or peoples lack of interest momentarily in popular music (see 2001 record sales story). Others point to the record moview box office returns for Q4 2001 and say large scale concerts offer an even better escape.

Death-rocker, Rob Zombie has announced that he will team up with Korn and Ozzy for a pre-Grammys metal show at the Los Angeles Sports Area called "The Concert for Artists Rights" says Rollingstone.com. The issue is artists claiming that the music industry takes part in unfair and deceptive practices pertaining to long term recording contracts.
