LG Study Shows Massive Preference for Passive 3D Technology
You can throw out all the fancy numbers you want, you can talk about halved resolutions and flicker and all the other things that make up a picture, but what matters in the end is how good something looks to the average viewer.  According to a new study organized by LG, passive sets are preferred by 80 percent of people. The study, which was carried out by research firm Morpace, matched up LG's 47LW5600 against a Sony KDL-46EX723 and a Samsung UN46D6420 and asked users to watch identical content on each set and select the one that they prefer over the others.

Hulu is Going Up For Sale After Yahoo Offer
Last week, from seemingly out of the blue, the folks at Hulu received a buyout offer from Yahoo.  There's been no disclosure on just how much Yahoo was offering, but it seems to have gotten Hulu's attention.  After rejecting the offer from Yahoo, the folks at Hulu hired themselves a few investment bankers and will be going on sale within the next few weeks. Microsoft Will Launch Streaming Television on the Xbox This Fall
Streaming television is coming to the Xbox 360, with Kinect integration for searches and more.  When the Xbox 360 was first launched, one of the rumors about its future capabilities included use as a tuner or DVR, but the closest we got was Netflix streaming.  Now it seems that those initial rumors are coming true, even if it's in a slightly different way that we expected.

The latest app from Samsung is one that's incredibly cool - at least if you own a 2011 Samsung Smart TV and a Samsung Galaxy S II. Smart View is a free download that allows you to watch whatever's happening on your TV on your phone over Wi-Fi.  That's not limited to Smart TV applications either.  You can watch Blu-rays, live television, or even videogames - anything that's hooked up to your set.

Japan Broadcasting Company Shows Off Hybrid Broadband/Cable 3D Technology
Though 3D television has been kicking off with a great deal of hype, there's a bit of a problem when it comes to the viewing of 3D content from your cable or satellite provider. The picture may look good, but it's not Full HD 1080p.  What you're getting from your cable company is a pair of 1080i images - one for your right eye and one for your left.  Japan Broadcasting Company (NHK) wants 1080p for both.  They can make it happen too, but it's a little bit complicated.
