Roku Remains Most Popular Streaming Player
According to a study conducted by Parks Associates, Roku media players made up about 46 percent of all streaming media player purchases in the US throughout 2013. In contrast, Applemade up about 26 percent of sales. Likewise, the company also accounts for 44 percent of actual streaming media player usage in US broadband homes, while competitor Apple accounts for just 26 percent.

Samsung Discontinues Video & Media Hub
Samsung has announced the termination of its Video and Media Hub. As of July 1, users can no longer purchase or rent movies and TV shows through the service. Likewise, after August 1, users will no longer be able to re-download previously purchased content.

Pioneer Sells Majority of A/V Business
According to a report in The Wall Street Journal, Pioneer has agreed to sell the majority of its consumer electronics business to Baring Private Equity Asia. In addition, another portion of the company will be sold to competing A/V manufacturer Onkyo.

Samsung Launches Commercial & Professional 4K Displays
At the InfoComm convention in Las Vegas, Samsung has unveiled its latest collection of Ultra HD displays. Dubbed the QMD series, the lineup is designed for business and commercial use. In addition, the company also highlighted an upcoming 4K monitor that is ideal for professionals.

LG Offers OLED Price Drop
After making its debut in July of 2013 at a $15,000 price point, LG has been gradually cutting the cost of its curved-screen 55-inch OLED HDTV. The price was first reduced to $6,999 back in February, and now the 55EA9800 will retail for $4,999, a whopping 67 percent discount off of its initial price.
