EPA Announces New Energy Star Requirements – Expands Program
The latest Energy Star requirements have been announced by the Environmental Protection agency, and it all seems pretty reasonable. While agencies like the California Energy Comission set to ban televisions that use large amounts of power, Energy Star takes the other tact by rewarding manufacturers with Energy Star certification on products that meet the requirements.

Samsung Tops LCD Sales For Third Quarter – Market Share Still Dropping
Samsung has finally retaken its lead as the number one provider of LCD televisions in the United States with a solid 16.8% share of the market.   Perhaps saying that Samsung has retaken anything is a bit grandiose though, since their share has still decreased significantly in the last year. In the third quarter of 2008, Samsung held 21.6% of the market share.

Genesis 7.1f Loudspeakers Honored at CES
The 2010 Consumer Electronics Show is just about two months away, but it’s never too early to start talking awards.  Genesis Advanced Technologies announced today that their 7.1f loudspeakers have been named a CES Innovations Design and Engineering Award honoree.  The CES Innovations selections are made every year to select the best and most innovative products in each category, and are judged by an independent panel of designers, engineers and media members.

Casio Joins the OLED Race
Even though it’s been shown in essentially the same size and form for years, when it comes to planning for the future, OLED is the new hotness.  Companies are coming out of the woodwork to create – or say that they will be creating – OLED screens like crazy, and Casio is no exception.  In a joint venture with the Tokyo based Toppan Printing, Casio has announced that it will be begin producing OLED screens as soon as April of 2010.

Best Buy to Embed CinemaNow in Nearly All Connected Devices
It’s interesting to see the clout that a company like Best Buy has.  According to their recent press release, they’ll be embedding Sonic’s Roxio CinemaNow technology into a majority of the connected devices they sell, including TV Sets, PMPs, set-tops, mobile phones and Blu-ray players. This integration is hitting nearly every capable product they sell, regardless of brand.
