After
a sudden, unexplained delay in the release of three HD DVD titles by
Paramount, the movie studio has announced a brand new lineup. Back in
May, Paramount delayed the release of Four Brothers, U2: Rattle &
Hum, and Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, giving no new release date or reason
for the indefinite postponement.
Universal
Home Entertainment has announced that they will be dropping the retail
prices of HD DVD titles from their studio by $5.
Current
Universal HD DVD titles are being released at a retail price of $34.95.
The new price slash will bring titles down to $29.95.
Universal
Home Entertainment has announced four HD DVD software titles for
release in August. The titles will be released in two waves.
The first wave set for August 8th will only include Ray, starring Jaime
Foxx. The HD DVD will include all supplementary material that is on the
Standard DVD as well as a new Dolby Digital Plus soundtrack.
Having
just purchased a Toshiba HD-XA1 HD DVD player for my entertainment
system, I was eager to get my hands on some High Definition software
titles. I already knew that titles were limited, but there were still a
handful of movies that I couldn’t wait to see in the new HD format. Not
wanting to hassle with in store purchases of the titles, I thought I
would get online and check out what Netflix had to offer. And this is
where the confusion began.
