It's been an uphill battle for 3D televisions, but things are really starting to pick up for the new format.  In fact, in the third quarter of 2011, shipments of 3D televisions were up 27%. Active set shipments increased by 23% while passive sets like those offered by LG and Vizio went up an impressive 34%. New Arrested Development Episodes Exclusive to Netflix in 2013
The Netflix streaming service is known for having plenty of movies and TV shows for you to watch at a nice low price.  It's also known for not having anything even close to new - something that the folks at Netflix are trying hard to change. This weekend they announced a new deal that's almost certainly a coup for the company.  'Arrested Development,' the prematurely cancelled Fox comedy series, is being brought back on the air.  Fox isn't going to be airing it though, nor is any TV channel.  The new episodes will be available exclusively on Netflix.

Vudu-To-Go Lets You Download Purchased Movies
When we talk about the best deal for streaming video, there's no question that Netflix is still at the top of the list.  When we talk about quality though, Vudu reigns supreme.  They do it right, reaching near Blu-ray quality with HDX films. Today they've taken another step in the right direction, offering customers the ability to download purchased movies.  Simply swing on over to Vudu, go to your purchased movies list and hit "download."  Nice and easy.

HiFiMAN Releases a Budget USB DAC and Headphones
Portable audio is a difficult proposition for audiophiles.  The convenience is great, sure, but the sound quality leaves much to be desired.  HiFiMan aims to give it a boost with the new HM-101 DAC.  The HM-101 is quite small and boasts both a USB input for use with computers and a standard mini in for other devices.  "A friend asked me to develop a DAC that everyone could afford yet would substantially improve the sound of any conventional audio product," says HiFiMAN president Fang Bian.  The result is the HM-101 which he describes as "an affordable product for the masses yet with really good sound." Affordable is right - the HM-101 comes in at just $39.

AMOLED TVs are One Step Closer to Retail Shelves
DuPont isn't a name that you'll see often on home theater sites - if at all - but the chemical company has made its way into the news today.  The company is behind the technology that makes AMOLED televisions possible and they've just announced a licensee for their tech. A few companies already use AMOLED displays for smaller devices, but DuPont's statement specifically states that we'll be seeing televisions. Per the company's press release, "The agreement will enable process technology developed by DuPont to be used in the company's production of large AMOLED television displays."
