The stars of SPINAL TAP -- Christopher Guest, Michael McKean and Harry Shearer -- will appear as their TAP characters in a live performance on VH-1's THE HIT on June 22. Fran Drescher, star of the CBS Television series THE NANNIE, will also reprise her TAP role as Bobbie Flekman. VH-1 is set to do a SPINAL TAP special later in the summer.

Billed as the first feature film created for the Internet "Quantum Project," starring John Cleese of Monty Python fame, Fay Masterson and Stephen Dorff was just released on the website www.SightSound.com. For $3.95 people can download or stream the film for one year allowing multiple viewings. SightSound.com has inked a deal with Miramax to release 12 films via the Internet and if this proves to be successful, don’t be surprised if major studios follow suit and begin offering their films online as well. The classic 1984 heavy metal mockumentary cult hit "This Is Spinal Tap" has been digitally remastered for a new video and DVD release on Sept. 5 of this year. The DVD will feature commentary from the members of Spinal Tap: David St. Hubbins (played by Michael McKean), Derek Smalls (played by Harry Shearer) and Nigel Tufnel (played by Christopher Guest) and a new interview with director Marty DeBergi (played by Rob Reiner), plus new outtakes and over an hour of additional previously unreleased footage. The film is being digitally remixed and will have a limited theatrical re-release on Sept. 1. Rumour has it that Spinal Tap Action figures will be available in stores soon.
