Senator Joe Biden has proposed legislation to Congress designed to attack the sudden increase in use of the drug Ecstasy by U.S. teens. Biden notes that according to The Partnership for a Drug Free America, there has been a 71 percent increase in use of Ecstasy since 1999. Biden’s target is not a new one, he is calling for increased Federal powers to bust raves (techno dance parties) and concert promoters under aggressive crack house statues that have monetary penalties as high as $500,000 coupled with as many as 20 years imprisonment.

In response to Sony and Microsoft dropping the price on their Playstation 2 and X-Box game systems respectively from $299 down to $199, Nintendo has cut the price of their Game Cube 25 percent. The Nintendo Game Cube will now carry a retail price of $149. Despite the fact that it does not feature a DVD-Video player like the PS2 and the X-Box, the Game Cube benefits from blockbuster video game titles like "Super Mario Brothers" and "The Legend of Zelda" and is targeted to a younger audience than the Microsoft and Sony units.

Daily Variety reported last Thursday that Michael Mann has agreed to bring back the trend setting crime story, Miami Vice for the silver screen. Reports say that Philip Michael Thomas and Don Johnson will not be getting the call however you never know who will appear in a cameo.

Lisa ``Left Eye'' Lopes, the thirty year old singer from the Grammy-winning trio TLC was killed in a car crash in Honduras on April 24, 2002. There is no word yet if Lopes, who often vacationed in Honduras and frequently assisted at a child development center there, was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Arista records President, L.A. Reid, offered his condolences to the family, friends and fans of the young star who would have turned thirty one in May.

Linda Boreman AKA: Linda Lovelace, star of the 1970 Porn cult favorite Deep Throat died yesterday at 53 as a result of injuries suffered in a car accident on April 3, 2002 in Denver, Colorado. Hollywood lore and Boreman’s book "Ordeal" say that she was forced into pornography at gun point and was unpaid for her work. Deep Throat went on to become a record setting film for the adult film industry. By 1980, she was an anti-pornography advocate and ultimately became a mother. Sources:, various other on-line sources.
