Ultralink’s Don Bouchard Passes at 58
Legend says that there is no Keyser Sose, but the audio-video industry knew a Keyser Sose, or at least someone who would call himself as much at the Consumer Electronic Show. His name was Don Bouchard, Ultralink’s vice president of marketing and sales, as well as a true maverick in the AV business. Don Bouchard died on February 7, 2008 from complications resulting from a serious motorcycle accident in Texas. He was 58.

Universal Pictures, in partnership with Best Buy, is giving away $15 Million in movie tickets as a promotion for the upcoming film “Peaceful Warrior”. The company will give a moviefan as many as 10 free tickets to see the film on its opening weekend at the end of March.

As music and movie sales have slumped recently, EA Sports proved this week that there is still a market for selling premium software products at a premium price. Copies of the newest John Madden football game priced as high as $60 for the Xbox 360 version flew off store shelves this week racking up $100 million dollars in sales, rivaling the first week total of the highly anticipated blockbuster film The Da Vinci Code, released earlier this year.

Flat HDTVs are selling like hotcakes but Microsoft’s Xbox 360 is the star of the Christmas 2005 selling season. With HDTV quality video games having made it to market before Sony’s pending Playstation 3 – consumers are lining up to get their hands on the sought after game system even if at a premium price. Priced between $299 for a basic system and $399 for a premium system – people are now paying between $750 and $1,000 for the premium Xbox 360 system on online auction sites such as Ebay.com. Parents who can’t say “no” are battling with gaming geeks who simply can not wait to get the latest system into their systems.
