Motion simulators can immerse viewers in the home theater experience by synchronizing motion with onscreen action and sound. Now D-Box hopes to make the experience even more realistic with the Quest X3ME by adding a motion to a third, vertical axis. The new seat replicates the front/back, left/right and up/down motion of the Odyssee, the company’s more expensive flagship product using three SynDrive motorized Actuators. Two Actuators are mounted in the front arms of the chair with a third one in the rear center delivering up to two Gs of acceleration and 1.5 inches of vertical travel (almost twice as much as the previous model). The Quest X3ME can be controlled via the Series 3 340c Kinetron controller or PC3 Motion Controller Interface (MCI) software. D-Box has just passed the 410 mark of coded movie titles available coded for both their existing Odyssee and just-released Quest motion simulation products. D-Box has titles ranging from classics like “Days of Thunder” and “Blade Runner” to modern action films like the “The Matrix” and “The Lord of the Rings” trilogies as well as animated features like “Finding Nemo” and “Shrek 2.”
