In 35 years B&W has grown to be one of the most respected and highest grossing loudspeaker manufacturer in all of high-end audio/video. To celebrate their 35th birthday, B&W announced the pending release of their flagship $20,000 per pair Signature 800 loudspeakers. With a much more slim footprint that B&W's famous 801 loudspeakers, the signature 800 is designed for modern and elegant living environments. The new Signature 800 was able to get thinner by using two 10 inch drivers for low frequency performance as opposed to a 15 inch driver as found in the 801's.

The new Martin Logan Odyssey combines electrostatic technology, innovative bass control, and sculptural cabinetry of the revolutionary Martin Logan Prodigy loudspeaker system at a lower $6,000 price point. Snell Acoustics, long known for its work with THX loudspeakers, has introduced a new flagship speaker called the Type XA Reference. Priced between $25,000 and $30,000 per pair, the six-foot, one-inch XA Reference speakers use a completely new design, improving on their predecessors, the critically acclaimed Type A Reference.

Created to be the flagship for their Mirage Omnipolar series, the new OM-1 made its debut at this year’s CES in Las Vegas. The OM-1 is a 4-piece system consisting of two 74-inch tall panels and two powered subwoofers. Each of the subwoofers holds four woofers in a bipolar configuration, two on each side. Each woofer is in its own enclosure, powered, with servo-control, by its own 375 watt amplifier for an impressive total of 1500 watts per side. The woofers themselves have woven carbon fiber cones and dual voice-coil/magnet/spider assemblies. Carbon fiber is also used for the cones of the mid/bass drivers. Mirage claims that the speakers have extremely low harmonic distortion levels by virtue of their dual voice-coil structures.
