Energy Speaker Systems announced that six new Energy Veritas Custom speakers began to ship with the new year. The speakers are the result of an unprecedented three year research and development program at Energy. The program started by recognizing that custom installers have complained for years that flush mounted speakers do not perform as well as box speakers. The research and development program culminated in the six new speakers, which combine Energy driver technology, a new patent-pending mounting system and adjustable circuitry to correct the imaging and tonality problems that have historically plagued all in-wall and in-ceiling speakers.

Meridian Audio Limited has introduced its latest “DSP Loudspeaker.” Meridian’s new DSP7000 model is derived from the company’s groundbreaking DSP8000. The new design brings its predecessor’s unique enclosure materials and cutting edge digital-speaker architecture to a smaller and more accessible package while retaining the same level of performance.

Danish audio manufacturer Gryphon parted ways with loudspeaker giant, DynAudio today. Companies like Classe’ and B&W or Revel and Madrigal get increasingly cozy because of the obvious distribution advantages, the Gryphon move seems curious. Gryphon’s focus is predominantly on high performance stereo components, not home theater which makes their products a tough sale in the United States, a market where stereo and multichannel music/home theater components from Mark Levinson, Krell, Sunfire and Meridian dominate the high end and “lifestyle” market.

The all new Bronze series includes two bookshelfs, one 2 way floor-stander, one 120 watt 10 inch subwoofer and one center channel all ranging in price from $229.00 to $599.00 per pair and are available in both Black Ash and Beech vinyl finishes. They all bi-wireable or bi-ampable and feature the luxurious Monitor Audio family sound.

Genesis speakers, which failed in 2001, is back in business with a new, big money backer from Singapore. The cult of personality leadership of Genesis founder and engineer, Arnie Nudell (Infinity) is also part of the new program to begin again with the high end loudspeaker company. The new Genesis says they have a number of new Nudell designs in the works yet they are looking to formerly successful products like a redesigned AMP1 along with the 501 speakers and 928 subwoofer.
