Inc. has just announced the first high definition DVD player with
Windows Media Video 9 and HighMAT formatted playback. Powered by Sigma
Designs' EM8620L on-chip processor, the Bravo D3 also provides pure
perfect DVD playback via DVI output in high-resolution 480p, 1080i and
720p formats. The Bravo D3 is expected to ship in the second quarter of
2004 with a retail price of $349.00.
The Bravo D3 will
also include DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, CD, CD-R/RW playback. The Bravo D3 is
the first DVD player capable of playing MPEG2, MPEG4 and WMV9 in High
Definition. Audio decoding includes WMA9, WMA Pro, WMA lossless, Dolby
Digital, MP3, MPEG-1/2 (layers 1, 2, and 3) and MPEG-4 AAC. The player
supports Dolby Digital and DTS multi-channel audio pass-through on
Toslink optical and S/PDIF coaxial digital outputs. The player features
NTSC/PAL output in composite and S-Video formats with interlaced or

Entertainment has just announced the details of The Rolling Stones four
DVD set Four Flicks. Featuring over 5 hours of music and more than 50
song, it will be released November 10, 2003 by Warner Vision
International outside of America. 3 DVDs will feature more than 25
classics including, "Satisfaction", "Brown Sugar", "Jumpin' Jack
Flash", and "Sympathy For The Devil", as well as many songs never
released live before including "Love Train", "Rock Me Baby", "Nearness
Of You", "Monkey Man", "Worried About You' and 'Hand Of Fate". The
fourth DVD presents two exclusive behind-the-scenes documentaries, "Tip

Bridget Byrne is reporting that the MPAA is pushing to take steps to
stop the practice of sending home video samples of first-run,
potentially Oscar worthy films to the voting public. While it might be
hard to imagine for audio-video consumers, but those Hollywood power
players who vote on who wins the Oscars, in fact get VHS or DVD copies
of the movies being considered for the awards. Blockbuster has got
nothing on this select group of “industry’ executives.
Critics say that this proposed ban on samplers is a move by the major
studios to collect more of the coveted awards over smaller, more
independent studios. If these were records, there would be a discussion
about piracy however the people who get such privileged DVDs know the
value of what they have and use them for private home screenings of

Meridian Audio has just announced the availability of Dolby Laboratories’ latest surround technology, Pro Logic IIx, in its new G68 and flagship 861 surround processors, making Meridian the first company in the world to offer this technology in their products.
The G68 is part of the new G Series range of players, processors, amps and controllers recently announced by Meridian. G Series products will be shipping by October, 2003. The 861 and the 568.2 processors can be upgraded to include Dolby Pro Logic IIx by means of a firmware upgrade, available for download free of charge and installed via the product’s serial port.
