Buying cables just isn't fun. They sit in the back of your TV, or in your home theater rack, and transport a signal from one device to another. You can't show them off, and it's incredibly difficult to explain the need for expensive cables to non-enthusiast friends.
If you've got things to plug in, Crestron's got the plugs. Their latest wall plate, the DM-TX-400-3G, supports just about everything you could want to attach to it. The DM-TX-400-3G has a VGA input for PC connectivity, a USB port to allow for mouse and keyboard control, 1/8" audio input, and support for SPDIF, component cables and of course, HDMI.
It’s sometimes difficult to explain to people that the purpose of a piece of equipment is to be invisible, but that’s the job of a lot of high-end audio gear. Power conditioners don’t enhance the sound, they simply keep everything clean. High end cables have an even less obvious purpose. From an audio perspective, they should simply be invisible.
So, you’ve got your ultrathin television, a nice slim wall mount, and ultrathin speakers to go with them. It’s a great setup, but traditional HDMI cables just won’t do the trick. For some setups, you need something special.
