102,000 Subscribers Leave Dish Network
The fourth quarter of 2008 saw 102,000 subscribers leave Dish Networks, the largest loss for the company since its inception.  This news led to a 10% drop in Dish’s stock on Monday.  This year will likely bring more losses to Dish Network, because of the termination of their partnership with AT&T this past February.

Vudu Reduces Prices on Movie Players by 50%
Vudu, online video service providers, have announced a 50% reduction in price for its set-top, on-demand Internet movie players.  Their HD set-top, Vudu XL and Vudu XL2 have all been reduced in price along with this announcement, to $149, $499 and $799 respectively.  The wireless kit for these systems is now retailing for $79.

Digeo Rolls Out the Moxi HD DVR
The Moxi high-definition DVR from Digeo is now available.  It’s a high-definition digital recorder that does not require a monthly fee nor does it inundate the consumer with advertisements.  This premium HD DVR is currently available by accessing the Moxi.com website.

Dish Network shows off a 1TB HD DVR
Dish Network unveiled its "Sling-Loaded HD Duo DVR", which is being called the first high-def DVR to be integrated with place-shifting technology.  This means that the ViP 922, which will be available for purchase in the spring quarter, can record video-on-demand on Dish Networks in high-definition, up to 1080p.
