Fifty gigabytes is an astounding amount of space, but it’s not infinite. What was once unthinkable has become mundane, and even insufficient for some tasks. Luckily the Blu-ray Disc Association has announced a pair of new Blu-ray specifications that should help out.
Don’t worry. Even though the reprehensibly bad “Squakquel”, the embarrassingly atrocious “Tromeo and Juliet” and the inexplicable “Madonna: Sticky & Sweet” are hitting shelves this week, there’s still plenty of gold to be mined from the last Blu-ray releases of March.
It’s another solid week for Blu-ray. There are Oscar winners, nominees, and a few classic films brought to Blu-ray for the first time. There’s also a sequel to Free Willy starring Beau Bridges and Bindi Irwin, daughter of Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin.
Unless you’re into sparkly vampires, there’s not too much coming out this week. Lackluster new releases like “Armored” and “Did you Hear About The Morgans” won’t get too many people excited, but there are a few gems if you dig down deep enough.
It’s an award winning week for Blu-ray releases featuring a pair of movies with four Oscar nominated performances between them. This week also marks the Blu-ray release of one of the most unique and well put together television shows out there.
