Retailers Devoting More Shelf Space to Blu-ray
Blu-ray is gaining ground with retailers.  First Target and now Wal-mart.  Wal-mart has recently been spotted dropping clearing shelf space, making room for more Blu-ray promotion.  Most notably, it has been the music CD section that is getting the axe.  Some retailers have announced a 23 percent drop in music CD sales during the present quarter.  Overall this year music sales have been down roughly seven percent.

Wilco Discourages Fans From Purchasing Their Blu-ray Release
Wrap your head around this one.  A documentary of the band Wilco is being postponed from being released on Blu-ray due to the band's objection.  That's right, Wilco is trying to persuade fans not to by the Blu-ray release.

Mamma Mia! on Blu-ray to Offer Awesome New BD-Live Feature
"Mamma Mia!" is being released on Blu-ray come December 16th.  The studio has released detailed specifications for the film.  They include some fairly standard features such as a DTS-HD Master Audio Lossless 5.1 audio track, U-Control, Deleted Scenes, Outtakes and Featurettes.  However, Universal is including a new feature that is sure to become a hit.

Blu-ray Disc Releases Reach 1,000 Milestone
Digital downloads may be catching on, and Blu-ray may still only hold a small fraction of the market share.  However, Blu-ray hit their first milestone recently, with 1,000 titles released in high definition.  While there is slightly more than 800 on the market, another 150 or so are planned for release, most by the end of the year.

Netflix and Samsung Announce Partnership for Streaming Content
Netflix, Inc. and Samsung Electronics America has announced a broad partnership to offer consumers the ability to instantly stream movies and TV episodes from the Netflix Web site directly to their living rooms via Samsung's BD-P2500 and BD-P2550 Blu-ray disc players. The companies also said they are collaborating to enable Samsung to integrate instant streaming from Netflix into a range of home entertainment products.
