Originally scheduled for a May 23rd release, it has now been pushed back to June 25th. The reason behind the delay is to allow time for a complete product testing. New test discs are being released in late April and the delay in the player’s launch will give the company time to work out any last minute kinks in the system.

Blu-ray discs are Sony’s foray into the world of HD capable discs and enjoy a healthy support group that includes Sony Pictures, Disney, Fox, Intel, Panasonic, Samsung and many others around the consumer electronics world.
