Sharp Releases the Aquos BD-HP21U Profile 1.1 Blu-ray Player
Sharp bolsters its position in the Blu-ray market with the introduction of its new slim-profile AQUOS BD player, model BD-HP21U. By combining full digital 1080p video output with an AQUOS High-Definition (HD) Liquid Crystal Television, consumers can view the latest HD films in breathtaking high-definition quality. As the successor to the BD-HP20U, the BD-HP21U now supports BD-ROM Profile 1.1, allowing users access to additional content from Blu-ray titles, including movie trailers, special subtitles/audio and games.

Samsung Surprises with New BD-P2550 Blu-ray Player
Samsung's Blu-ray development department dropped out of the news after the BD-P2400.  But now they are back with the all new BD-P2550.  Surprising everyone, the player showed up on the shelves at Best Buy this past week.  The new player seemingly has the components that were missing from the BD-P1500, including the Silicon Optix HQV processor and 7.1 analog audio outputs.

LG BD300 Network Blu-ray Player Interfaces With Netflix
LG has officially announced their upcoming release of the BD300 Network Blu-ray player.  A step that is surely aimed at creating a bridge between movie downloads and hardware players, the BD300 will interface with Netflix.  The player will be able to link to your Netflix account and access movies stored in your user queue and begin streaming them directly to your HDTV.  The player will require a wired broadband connection.

Sony Introduces New BAE-VX1000 Encoder for Blu-ray Disc Authoring
Sony Creative Software has announced the availability of Sony’s new multi-codec video encoder for Blu-ray Disc authoring developed in conjunction with Sony Electronics and Sony Pictures Entertainment. Originally announced by Sony Electronics at NAB 2008, the BAE-VX1000 encoder is priced to bring high-speed, high-quality Blu-ray Disc authoring within reach of smaller studios.
