All 2010 Onkyo Receivers to Support HDMI 1.4
There’s a lot of potential for the new HDMI standard.  Sure, there’s a bit of oddness – like creating cables specifically for 1080i displays – but HDMI 1.4 can do a lot that 1.3 just couldn’t.  With HDMI 1.4 you can send an Ethernet signal along with the video and audio, or send a 4K video signal.  Onkyo’s new receivers are all HDMI 1.4 compatible, but they focus on the other functions of the standard.

Denon Recievers Get an Audyssey Upgrade
The Audyssey DSX surround technology that’s already in Denon’s AVR-4810CI and AVR-4310CI receivers will soon be available for the AVR-3310CI and AVR-990.  Audyssey DSX is a set of algorithms designed to push 5.1 channel surround past its limitations by adding height and expanded width to existing channels.  It synthesizes audio channels between the channels and controls delay, level and frequency response.

Denon Integrates the Blu-ray Player and the Receiver
Denon is demonstrating the S-5BD, a combination Blu-ray player and audio/video receiver.  The unit has a Profile 2.0 Blu-ray player and a surround sound receiver.  The biggest news with this unit is that it is the first piece of equipment that has certified HDMI 1.4 inputs and outputs.

Anchor Bay Scaling Selected For Pioneer Receivers
In an odd bit of news today it was announced that Pioneer has selected Anchor Bay to provide scaling for their Elite VSX-23TXH and VSX-21TXH as well as the VSX-10109AH-K.  The first Pioneer products to use Anchor Bay scaling technology, this adds some extra appeal to this trio of sub $1,000 Pioneer receivers.

Integra Shows Four Networked Receivers
From entry level up, Integra’s new receivers have a wide variety of features including fairly strong networking capabilities.  All four of the receivers are able to stream from a networked storage device or PC, but can also directly link up to services like Sirius Internet Radio, Rhapsody and Pandora.
