Revel Performa F30
Revel also revealed the first loudspeaker for a new, lower priced, high-value line of speakers that will be introduced throughout 1999. Called the Performa Series the first model will be the F-30. The Performa series has a distinctive look, though it is more traditional than the Ultima series. The rounded front baffle is sculpted to reduce diffraction and three solid aluminum feet couple the speaker to the floor. It is available in a variety of wood finishes. What struck me most was the phenomenal bass response of this speaker that houses a single 10" woofer. During the demo it was played with no subwoofer added but I know of no loudspeaker that could have reproduced bass of this magnitude and clarity without a sub. If this first entry into the more price-conscious arena is any indication of the surround, center and subwoofer yet to come, Revels targeted $10,000 home theater package will surely be one of the best around.
