Audio Line Source

Audio Line Source is a new company dedicated to the "unconditioning" of your power. For $700, Richard Gray’s Power Conditioner uses huge coils to store power that your high-end audio video components crave. This is a very different concept than line conditioners, isolation transformers and sine wave generators. This product is actually wired in parallel. A number of very high- performance displays (which normally don’t use products like this at CES) proudly had their UnConditioners on view. The list of supporters included: Audio Research, BAT, VTL, LAMM, MBL, YBA, ProAc, Hovland, Harmonic Technology and others. We were intrigued at the concept of improved conditioning products and are arranging for a review in the next few months.

Transparent Audio Inc.

Transparent introduced their new power product, the PowerIsolator power conditioner. This product has passive components, which are reputed to improve soundstage focus, bass definition and dynamics. Released in November of 1999, the PowerIsolator has four outlets and sells for $1,500.

Particular Contemporary Design

Particular demonstrated a line of audio racks and stands that were clearly unique and functional. Shown is the very cool Eurythmy, which is a limited-edition rack priced at $25,000. Does this seem fair? Particular demonstrated other racks at more reasonable prices for those who feel that $25,000 for a rack is excessive.

The La Luce CS Centoventi

This is one great-looking table, seen in the Cardas room and appropriately outfitted with the Cardas Myrtle cartridge. This unit drew crowds of onlookers.

The PS Audio P300 Power Plant

This remarkable unit is more than just a power conditioner or filter. It actually reconstructs the power by converting it to DC, then back to AC. With adjustable output frequencies, I heard this unit make amazing improvements to music. The P300 has 300 watts of supply, enough power to handle the lower power requirements in your system, such as your CD, DAC, and preamplifier, and retails for $995. For larger power requirements, the P600 retails for $1,995.

Essential Sound Products Inc.

Essential Sound Products displayed their line of power cords and strips. Several rooms at the show used these power products. Not conditioners or filters, these cords and power strips use the very best in components and are utilized by many from the most discriminating audiophiles to the recording industry.

Argent RoomLens

The Argent RoomLens room-tuning devices were used in many of the rooms at CES 2000 and appeared to perform stunningly as diffusing room treatments. These units are 58 inches tall and are comprised of three tubes, which are filled with different levels of dampening materials to provide different resonant frequencies. At $1,195 for a set of three, this product isn’t cheap but appears to perform terrifically.
